2 Jugs of Water Brainteaser – Solution

Did you come up with an answer to Friday’s 2 Jugs of Water Brainteaser?

If so congratulations. If not, then here’s the solution.

1. Fill the 5 gallon jug with water.
2. Pour water from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug until the 3 gallon jug is full. You now have 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
3. Dump out the 3 gallon jug.
4. Pour the 2 gallons that is left in the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug.
5. Fill the 5 gallon jug. You now have 5 gallons in the 5 gallon jug and 2 gallons in the 3 gallon jug.
6. Pour water from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug until the 3 gallon jug is full.
7. Dump out the 3 gallon jug.
8. You now have 4 gallons left in the 5 gallon jug.
